Fossil River was set up as a family concern in 1959 and has grown alongside the textile industry until it decided to focus on gastronomy.

Fossil River is one of the leading Catalan firms that engages in the production and sale of gourmet salts. Three generations of salt makers who have dedicated themselves to refining traditional salt-extraction methods.

Fossil River is the brand name of a gourmet salt that comes from an underground salt spring in Villena, Alicante. It is connected to our Salt Pan of 100 hectares, far from any sea or ocean, as the coast is 40 kilometres away.

Fossil River is the brand name of a gourmet salt that comes from an underground salt spring in Villena, Alicante. It is connected to our Salt Pan of 100 hectares, far from any sea or ocean, as the coast is 40 kilometres away.

This salt is of a higher quality and is produced by extraction from the underground rivers using traditional methods. The salt is then deposited in salt pans and is then dried by the Mediterranean sun and the winds of Alicante. Lastly, the water evaporates, and all the original minerals remain in the salt.

Due to its extraction process and its mineral origin, Fossil River is the only Spanish gourmet spring salt with a product range that has more than 30 varieties.

It is designed for use as a seasoning for dishes after cooking, in addition to enhancing the flavour of food and giving dishes a more sophisticated and attractive touch.

We have been working with the Egara Drug Addiction Intervention Association (AIDE) or many years in the Servim project.

Although there is still much to be done, we are working hard to replace plastic containers with other alternative materials such as cardboard or 100% compostable bags.
